The South Texas Food Bank Kid's Cafe Is Here And Will Be Starting In A Few Days At The Seco Mines Community Center

Maverick County Precinct 3 – The Seco Mines Community Center Afterschool Youth Program is here! David Lopez director for the center informs us that this program will be starting in the next couple of days and is encouraging all parents who wish to have their kids involved to register them as soon as possible as space will be limited.
The youth will have access to cable tv, outside sports, arts & crafts, table games, computer lab, homework tutoring, and a brand new youth service called "Kids Cafe". Kids Cafe is an after-school program that offers nutritious, well-balanced hot meals to children at risk of hunger. Initiated by Feeding America, Kids Cafe provides a safe and positive environment for children ages 15 and under to get fed after school. Kids Cafes provide our local children a grassroots approach to alleviating childhood hunger and to promote self-esteem and individual development. The South Texas Food Bank's Kids Cafe program currently supports 13 Kids Cafe programs in three communities in South Texas. The Seco Mines Community Center is one of these locations now here in Maverick County. Applications are still being accepted and those of you willing to register your children can do so by calling the Seco Mines Community Center at 830-773-5588 or by coming in person to fill out an application. We look foward to seeing soon!
