Commissioner Rosales Encourages The Community To Attend The HOPE-K Ciclovia Festival

Maverick County Precinct 3 – The HOPE-K Trinational Health Council (THC), a community agency dedicated to preventing and reducing diabetes and obesity in Eagle Pass, Texas is gearing up for the first annual Ciclovia Festival.  A Spanish term meaning “bike parkway,” a ciclovía is a one-day street closure aimed at fostering physical activity and civic pride. The Ciclovia Festival is set to take place Sunday, September 30th from 8am to 12pm. This event will be taking place at the Fort Duncan Park Area and Golf Course in Eagle Pass, Texas.
The City of Eagle Pass along with many community agencies including Maverick County are supporting this event by providing services that will help make this event a success. Community residents will have the opportunity to engage in Zumba, walking, cycling, and other types of fun physical activity as part of this festival. By participating in this event you are taking the first step to embrace an active lifestyle, make changes to the environment in support of physical activity and, most importantly, view and use the city’s streets, sidewalks and neighborhoods as venues for exercise, recreation and community. Commissioner Rosales is a full supporter of the HOPE-K Ciclovia and highly encourages the community to go out and participate in this great event that is designed to promote healthier living. "Were are very proud to have Ciclovia in our town, and I believe it is a great example on how to introduce a healthly lifestyle in our community for our citizens and our youth", says Commissioner Rosales.
